About Arega Belgium
Who are we?
Arega is a full-service health care company that sells and distributes medications, medical devices, self-care products and cosmetics. As the exclusive distributor for Teva® generic medicines, Arega is among the top three in the Belgian generics market.
Arega was born out of a passion for better health care with the belief that we can continue to improve and make a difference within the health care landscape. The name Arega comes from the ancient Greek language and means support. This is what we believe in… support. A part of Arega’s mission is our desire to invest in finding solutions to improve people’s comfort and well-being.
Arega aims to provide a breath of fresh air by engaging in dialogue with all stakeholders and developing initiatives to improve health and well-being. As a ‘caring rebel’, we want to set out a new path where we break the usual pharma company modus operandi (high prices for innovations and market dominance). We intend to position ourselves as an atypical health care company that delivers on its promise to be a trusted partner for patients and health care stakeholders.
The foundation of Arega’s mission is its willingness to invest in solutions that improve the comfort and well-being of everyone in terms of affordability and accessibility. We pay attention to the challenges patients and caregivers face every day. Arega’s motto is ‘Everyone counts’… and for good reason.

Our History
Incorporation
Arega was founded by Teun Grooters (CEO), Chris Olyslager (COO) and Mark Thomson (CFO). They launched the company based on their extensive experience in clinical development and commercialisation in EU markets. Providing affordable care for all was the main focus for the launch and gave rise to the slogan: ‘everyone counts’.
Holistic growth
Our operations have grown. In collaboration with academic experts, we focus on developing a line of medicines, medical aids, self-care products and cosmetics. We build our product offering based on a holistic approach that focuses on the person, optimises personal comfort of care and well-being, and that is always based on science.

Daily management
As of January 2022, Stefanie Pieraets took over management of Arega. She is responsible for the day-to-day management and continuity of Belgian activities within the organisation.
Vibosun®
International development
We are also growing internationally and investing in the development of new medicines for diseases requiring a lot of medical care. Our ambition is to make health care affordable to all. This means we work primarily on repurposing existing medicines for new indications (‘repurposed drugs’).
